1. Policy Overview
TiC Heating Solutions Ltd. is committed to providing a safe and healthy working environment for its employees, contractors, clients, and members of the public who may be affected by our activities.
We recognise that effective health and safety management is integral to the successful delivery of our heating and plumbing services. We are committed to complying with all applicable UK health and safety legislation and to managing health and safety through a structured, risk-based approach that prioritises prevention, competence, and continuous improvement.
We will consult with employees on health and safety matters and encourage active participation in maintaining safe working practices.
2. Objectives
Our health and safety objectives are to:
• Comply fully with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and all applicable UK health and safety legislation.
• Prevent work-related injury, ill health, and occupational disease.
• Identify hazards, assess risks, and implement effective control measures.
• Promote a positive health and safety culture through leadership, communication, and employee involvement.
• Ensure employees and contractors are trained, competent, and adequately supervised.
• Monitor performance and review arrangements to drive continual improvement.
3. Legal Framework
TiC Heating Solutions Ltd. complies with relevant UK health and safety legislation and guidance, including but not limited to:
• Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
• Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
• Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER)
• Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002 (COSHH)
• Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992 (as amended 2022)
• Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
• Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
• Work at Height Regulations 2005
• Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
This list is not exhaustive, and the company will comply with all other relevant statutory requirements and HSE guidance.
4. Responsibilities
Directors and Management
• Provide visible leadership and commitment to health and safety.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and guidance.
• Establish, implement, and maintain effective health and safety arrangements.
• Provide adequate training, information, instruction, supervision, and resources.
• Ensure suitable and sufficient risk assessments are undertaken and reviewed.
• Cooperate and coordinate with clients, contractors, and other duty holders where work activities overlap.
Employees
• Take reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of others affected by their actions.
• Cooperate with management to enable compliance with legal duties.
• Follow safe systems of work, procedures, and instructions.
• Use PPE and safety equipment correctly.
• Report hazards, defects, incidents, and near misses without delay.
5. Risk Assessment and Safe Systems of Work
TiC Heating Solutions Ltd. undertakes suitable and sufficient risk assessments for all work activities, including but not limited to commercial boiler servicing, underfloor heating installations, and oil-fired systems.
Our approach includes:
• Identifying hazards associated with tasks, locations, and equipment.
• Assessing risks and implementing proportionate control measures.
• Developing and documenting safe systems of work and method statements where required.
• Applying dynamic risk assessment where site conditions change or unforeseen hazards arise.
• Reviewing assessments regularly and following incidents, near misses, or legislative changes.
6. Accident and Incident Reporting
All accidents, incidents, dangerous occurrences, and near misses must be reported promptly and recorded in accordance with company procedures.
This enables us to:
• Investigate causes and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Comply with the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013 (RIDDOR) where applicable.
7. Training and Competency
TiC Heating Solutions Ltd. ensures that:
• Employees and contractors are competent to undertake their work safely through appropriate training, qualifications, and experience.
• Training is proportionate to the risks associated with specific roles and activities.
• Training covers, where relevant, risk assessment, safe use of equipment, COSHH, manual handling, working at height, and emergency procedures.
• Training records are maintained and reviewed to ensure ongoing competence.
8. Control of Hazardous Substances
Where hazardous substances are used, TiC Heating Solutions Ltd. complies with COSHH requirements by:
• Assessing risks associated with hazardous substances.
• Using Safety Data Sheets (SDS) to inform control measures.
• Implementing safe storage, handling, and disposal arrangements.
• Providing suitable PPE and training to those exposed to hazardous substances.
9. Emergency Procedures
• Emergency procedures appropriate to the site and activity are established and communicated.
• First aid provision is maintained in accordance with the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981.
• Employees receive instruction and training to respond effectively to emergencies, including fire, gas leaks, and medical incidents.
10. Review of Policy
This policy will be reviewed at least annually and sooner where required due to changes in legislation, work activities, organisational structure, or following accidents, incidents, or enforcement action.
TiC Heating Solutions Ltd. is committed to continual improvement and will use findings from audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations to enhance health and safety performance.
